How does the Kalshi promo code offer work?
New users who enter the Kalshi promo code RATE at registration get a guaranteed $55 bonus after $25 in trades. That is $30 more than the $25 bonus tied to most other Kalshi codes, and the $55 does not vary. You can use RATE or a friend's referral link, but not both.
Your first governor race trade counts toward the $25. If you put $25 on Abbott in Texas and he wins, you collect the payout on top of the $55. If he loses, you still get the full $55. The bonus lands as trading credit, which you cannot withdraw until you have traded through it once. Anything you win with it is yours to withdraw.

Abbott slips to 60¢ and Donalds to 63¢ as governor race odds tighten on election day
Greg Abbott opened election day at 60¢ on Kalshi, down from 69% on Oct. 21, and Byron Donalds at 63¢, down from 80% in October, while Keisha Lance Bottoms climbed eight points in seven days to 70¢ and Aaron Ford ran from 58% to 75¢.
Texas drew more than $1 million in trades on Nov. 2 alone, the most of any governor market on the exchange.
Here are the six closest governor races, the price to buy the favorite and what the $55 credit pays back if that side wins, before fees, checked this morning from our own feed.
| Race | Kalshi favorite | Kalshi price | $55 pays |
|---|---|---|---|
| Texas | Greg Abbott (R) over Gina Hinojosa (D) | 60¢ | $92 |
| Florida | Byron Donalds (R) over David Jolly (D) | 63¢ | $87 |
| Vermont | Phil Scott (R) over Amanda Janoo (D) | 67¢ | $82 |
| Georgia | Keisha Lance Bottoms (D) over Rick Jackson (R) | 70¢ | $79 |
| Nevada | Aaron Ford (D) over Joe Lombardo (R) | 75¢ | $73 |
| Ohio | Amy Acton (D) over Vivek Ramaswamy (R) | 83¢ | $66 |
Kalshi prices governor races by party, so each contract pays $1 if that party's nominee wins. Alaska and California list candidates instead. Texas traded more than $1 million on Kalshi in the 24 hours before election day, the most of any governor market on the exchange.
What are Kalshi traders saying about the governor races?
Five races moved in the final two weeks, and three of them moved against the polls. Here is where each one stands on Kalshi this morning:
- Texas, Abbott 60¢: Down from 69% on Oct. 21. The final New York Times/Siena poll had Gina Hinojosa ahead 48% to 47%, and Abbott told supporters at his last stop in San Antonio that the race would be close. He has declined four debate invitations and run a $12 million ad buy on Hinojosa's property-tax votes.
- Florida, Donalds 63¢: Down from 80% in October, the biggest slide on the board. The RealClearPolling average has Byron Donalds four points up on David Jolly, but St. Pete Polls found Jolly leading 58% to 38% among Floridians who had already voted, so traders are pricing turnout rather than the polling lead.
- Georgia, Bottoms 70¢: Up from 51¢ on Oct. 21, an eight-point gain in the final week alone. More than 2 million Georgians voted early in person, Trump rallied for Rick Jackson in Dalton and Keisha Lance Bottoms campaigned with Jon Ossoff, who is at 97% on the same ballot.
- Nevada, Ford 75¢: Up from 58% on Oct. 21. Aaron Ford has both of the state's Democratic senators behind him, and Joe Lombardo is the only Republican incumbent in a 2024 Trump state that the market has as an underdog.
- Ohio, Acton 83¢: Up from 77% on Oct. 21 after five straight polls had Amy Acton ahead of Vivek Ramaswamy. Trump and Vice President JD Vance both campaigned for the Republican ticket in the final stretch.
- Wisconsin, Crowley 85¢ and Iowa, Sand 87¢: Both Democrats have held above 80% through October, well clear of a toss-up Wisconsin poll on Oct. 7 that the market never followed.
How do governor race contracts trade and settle on Kalshi?
Kalshi's governor contracts pay on the party of the person sworn in, not the name on the label. The Texas contract marked Greg Abbott pays $1.00 if a Republican takes the oath and $0.00 if a Democrat does. A nominee who switches parties after the vote settles on the party they belonged to on election day, and if a governor-elect resigns before taking office, the contract settles on whoever is sworn in first as the replacement.
The races can settle tonight. Kalshi resolves a governor contract early once four of its eight designated media sources have called it and none has called it the other way. The eight are The New York Times, the Associated Press, Decision Desk HQ, CNN, Fox News, NBC News, CBS News and ABC News. A race with no clean call runs to 10:00 a.m. ET the morning after inauguration.
Most politics markets on Kalshi carry no trading fee, so 40 Abbott contracts at 60¢ cost $24 and pay $40 if a Republican wins. The same $24 buys 68 Hinojosa contracts at 35¢, paying $68 if a Democrat wins. Either order clears the $25 requirement with one more dollar, and you can sell out at the market price on results night before any network calls the race. Fees and state access for every exchange are on our prediction market apps page.
FAQ
Can I use the Kalshi promo code RATE on the governor races?
Yes, you can use the Kalshi promo code RATE on any governor race. Every market on the exchange counts toward the $25 in qualifying trades, and the $55 credit can go back into the same races once it lands.
Do I get the $55 if my election day trades lose?
Yes, the $55 pays whether your trades win or lose. Kalshi credits the bonus within 24 hours of your $25 in trades settling, and the result of those trades does not affect it.
Will the governor markets settle tonight?
Some of them will. Kalshi can resolve a governor race as soon as four of its eight designated media sources have called it with no contradictory call, which for a race like Ohio or Wisconsin could happen within hours of polls closing. A race that stays uncalled runs to the morning after the governor is sworn in.
Can I trade the Nevada governor race from Nevada?
No, you cannot trade the Nevada governor race from Nevada. Court orders there block Kalshi's election contracts, and Nevada is one of the states where the Kalshi promo code RATE is not available. Traders in eligible states can take a position on Aaron Ford or Joe Lombardo like any other race.
How long do I have to use the bonus?
You have seven days from the moment the $55 lands. You also have seven days from opening the account to complete the $25 in trades, so a new account opened this morning needs its qualifying trades done by Nov. 10.
