The Buffalo Bills host the Detroit Lions at Highmark Stadium on Thursday Night Football. Kickoff from Buffalo is set for 8:15 p.m. ET on Prime Video.

The Bills pulled off a 36-31 road victory over the Texans in their season opener. The Lions eked out a 31-30 home win over the Saints in overtime. Both the Bills and Lions shone on offense, but were leaky on defense.

Prediction markets, including Polymarket, offer trading opportunities on every NFL game throughout the season. Standalone primetime games like TNF can generate significant trading volume.

Lions vs. Bills prediction market preview

The Bills are making their official debut at the new Highmark Stadium. The first regular-season and primetime game should feature plenty of fireworks.

The Lions limp into TNF without three of four starters in the secondary. Detroit released CB Terrion Arnold after he was arrested for alleged kidnapping and armed robbery in the offseason. Starting safeties Brian Branch (Achilles tendon) and Kerby Joseph (knee) are on the Physically Unable to Perform list. They will both miss the first four games of the season.

Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen must be salivating about the holes in Detroit’s secondary. New Orleans QB Tyler Shough torched the Lions for 410 yards and three passing touchdowns. Expect new head coach Joe Brady to employ a pass-first approach to exploit Detroit’s wounded defense.

On offense, Detroit is more than capable of keeping pace. Detroit running back Jahmyr Gibbs ran roughshod over the Saints with 156 yards and two TDs. The Lions also have one of the league’s top wide receivers in Amon Ra-St. Brown, who scored twice against the Saints.

Buffalo leads the all-time series 8-4-1. If the most recent meeting in 2024 is any indication, the offensive firepower of both teams will be on full display. Buffalo won that game, 48-42. Polymarket’s pricing reflects the likelihood of another track meet on TNF.

Lions vs. Bills player props on Polymarket

In addition to game markets, Polymarket also offers several player props for Lions vs. Bills. These include:

  • Anytime TDs
  • Passing TDs
  • Passing Yards
  • Receiving Yards
  • Rushing Yards

Allen is a true dual-threat at the QB position. He led all NFL quarterbacks with 14 rushing TDs last season. He picked up where he left off with two rushing scores in the opener against Houston. Polymarket traders expect him to find the end zone again against Detroit.

Detroit quarterback Jared Goff is ultra-efficient and limits his mistakes. He averaged two passing touchdowns per game last season. Predictably, Goff threw for a pair of TD passes in the opener against New Orleans. Based on current prices, he’s viewed as a likely threat to do so again tonight.

It’s always prudent to be aware of the risks associated with trading on prediction markets, including Polymarket. The speculative nature of prediction markets means there are no guarantees when trading on NFL markets.
