Kalshi has landed exclusive, multi-year prediction market partnerships with five Major League Baseball clubs, adding the Atlanta Braves, Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants to a rapidly expanding collection of team-level deals across the sport.
The agreements mean seven of MLB’s 30 clubs now have individual prediction market partners, after the New York Mets partnered with Novig in July and the New York Yankees struck a deal with Polymarket earlier this month.
Four of Kalshi’s five new partners are based in states without legal sports betting (the three California teams and the Braves in Georgia), while Massachusetts is separately fighting Kalshi in court over whether its sports contracts can be offered without a state sports wagering license.
Kalshi said the partnerships will include in-stadium signage and social, online, radio and fan activations. The Dodgers agreement includes Kalshi-branded LED signage around Dodger Stadium, naming rights to the stadium’s Gold Glove Bar and on-site promotions in Centerfield Plaza. Kalshi said baseball trading volume on its exchange has increased 36x year over year.
“The idea is that fans are already engaging with their favorite teams on Kalshi,” Adam Barrick, Kalshi’s head of sports partnerships, said in Tuesday’s announcement, “so it only makes sense to extend that fandom to some of the most beloved baseball teams in America.”
Kalshi MLB deals had already begun surfacing
Tuesday’s announcement formalized some partnerships that had already begun to appear publicly, though without the usual rollout that accompanies major team sponsorships. The Braves’ official X account promoted the Kalshi app in an Aug. 1 post highlighting a performance by Martín Pérez.
Sportico reported earlier this week that Kalshi branding had also begun appearing around Dodger Stadium, including on digital outfield signage and behind home plate, while the Red Sox incorporated Kalshi into team content during an Aug. 21-23 homestand.
Boston sent fans a promotional email encouraging them to download the exchange’s app, according to Sportico. On Aug. 21, the Red Sox X account posted a Kalshi-sponsored “Homestand Preview.”
The Red Sox separately announced Tuesday that Kalshi will serve as the club’s “Official and Exclusive Prediction Market Partner,” with branded LED signage around Fenway Park and radio integrations on New England sports radio station WEEI.
“Our shared commitment to innovation and excellence makes this partnership a natural fit,” Red Sox Chief Marketing & Partnerships Officer Troup Parkinson said of the Kalshi deal in the announcement.
Four Kalshi partners are in sports betting holdout states
Four of Kalshi’s five new MLB partners are based in states that do not allow regulated sports betting. The Dodgers, Giants and Padres are all in California, where sports betting has yet to be legalized, while the Braves play in Georgia, another state without legal sportsbooks.
California has also opposed Kalshi’s argument that federal law preempts state gambling laws governing its sports contracts. Attorney General Rob Bonta joined a 37-state amicus brief in June supporting Ohio regulators in their litigation with Kalshi, the seventh nationwide, multistate amicus effort California had joined involving Kalshi or other prediction market companies.
Massachusetts presents a different conflict. The state allows regulated sports betting, but Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell sued Kalshi in September 2025, alleging its sports contracts constitute unlicensed sports wagering. A state judge granted Massachusetts a preliminary injunction against Kalshi in January, but an appeals court stayed the order pending Kalshi’s appeal, allowing the exchange to continue offering sports contracts in the state.
The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court heard arguments in May over whether the Commodity Exchange Act preempts the state’s sports-wagering laws and has not yet issued a decision.
Dodgers partnership adds a tribal gaming wrinkle
The Dodgers also have a long-running relationship with Yaamava’ Resort & Casino at San Manuel, which has served as the club’s Official California Casino Partner since 2007.
Yaamava’ is owned by the Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation, which has taken the opposite side of Kalshi in prediction market litigation. The tribe and a separate tribal entity, the San Manuel Gaming and Hospitality Authority, have filed briefs supporting state regulators in cases challenging Kalshi’s preemption arguments, including litigation in Utah and Rhode Island. That leaves the Dodgers partnered with Kalshi while their longtime casino partner is owned by a tribe that has formally opposed the exchange’s legal position.
MLB already has a league-level Polymarket deal
MLB itself moved into the prediction market space in March, naming Polymarket its Official Prediction Market Exchange. The agreement grants Polymarket and its brokers exclusive rights to use MLB logos and access to official league data from Sportradar.
Around the same time, MLB and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission signed a memorandum of understanding establishing regular information sharing regarding the integrity of professional baseball and related event-contract markets. MLB described it as the first such MOU between the CFTC and a major U.S. professional sports league.
Despite Polymarket’s existing league-level agreement, Kalshi told Reuters that it is still in talks with MLB about a league-level deal. Reuters did not describe what Kalshi is seeking in a potential deal or how any agreement would fit alongside Polymarket’s existing exclusive rights.
