Norway vs. England World Cup Preview

England advanced to the quarterfinal round after a 3-2 win over Mexico at Azteca Stadium. Norway beat Brazil 2-1 in what Norwegian star Erling Haaland described as the biggest win in the country’s history.

Haaland is still in the running to win the Golden Boot Award. He has scored seven goals to lead Norway’s attack. That ties him with France’s Kylian Mbappe. Both players trail Argentina’s Lionel Messi, who leads all players with eight goals.

England’s offense is paced by captain Harry Kane, who has scored six goals in the tournament. Jude Bellingham is also having a productive World Cup with four goals for the Three Lions. Both players found the back of the net in the win against Mexico.

Expect England to win the possession battle, but Norway should generate scoring opportunities with its aggressive counter-attack. Haaland, who plays for Manchester United in the Premier League, is often the beneficiary.

One potential injury concern for England comes at right back, but manager Thomas Tuchel indicated Reece James could return to the lineup after suffering a hamstring injury in the scoreless draw against Ghana. It’s a situation worth monitoring ahead of Saturday’s kickoff.
