The first game of the 2026 regular season nearly quadrupled the Kalshi volume generated by last year’s opener, pushing reported volume across three operators above $111 million.

DeFi Rate projects Kalshi NFL trading volume will reach roughly $3.2 billion through Week 1 and $57 billion across the full 2026–27 season. The forecast reflects the sharp expansion in prediction-market participation and NFL contract inventory over the past year, while using last season’s week-by-week trading pattern to model how volume is likely to build across the season rather than extrapolating the current growth rate indefinitely.

The Super Bowl favorite Rams and several other contenders are expected to battle for double digit wins, while others could have their work cut out to finish the season above .500.

The league says contracts on player injuries, officiating, broadcast mentions and easily manipulated plays remain available months after its first warning. Its latest letter, sent days before the 2026 season begins, sharpens the pressure on Kalshi, Polymarket and other federally regulated exchanges, and notably calls their products “bets.”

Atlanta will start Cooper Rush after ruling out Tua Tagovailoa and Michael Penix Jr., while Pittsburgh moved from a 5.5-point to a 6.5-point favorite and the Falcons’ Kalshi win price fell two percentage points to 30%. Cowboys vs. Giants was Sunday’s most-traded matchup with $797,954 in Kalshi game composite volume as of 7:00 a.m. ET on Sept. 12. Among the weekend’s closest-priced game-winner markets, Bills vs. Texans had Buffalo at 52% and Houston at 48% on Kalshi.
