World Cup goal scorer predictions for Monday, June 29

Here is today’s schedule of games:

  • Brazil vs. Japan 1 p.m. ET (FOX)
  • Germany vs. Paraguay 4:30 p.m. ET (FOX)
  • Netherlands vs. Morocco 9 p.m. ET (FOX)

This World Cup has produced more goals (216) than any other. It’s worth noting that the tournament has been expanded from 32 to 48 teams, but it’s still been a prolific scoring run heading into the knockout stage.

There have been several highlights, with Lionel Messi recording his first-ever World Cup hat trick and the US scoring the most goals ever in a tournament game (4).

Will the offensive ways continue in the knockout round when nerves become frayed in the single-elimination format? Here’s the latest Kalshi pricing on a trio of players with the potential to find the back of the net in Monday’s matches.

OutcomePrediction OddsAmerican Odds
Vinicius Junior to score40%  +150
Deniz Undav to score43%  +133
Cody Gapko to score25%  +300

Vinicius Junior (40% to score on Kalshi)

Junior scored in every game of the group stage, putting himself in some heady company in the process. Just the fifth Brazilian player to accomplish that feat, he joined Jairzinho (1970), Romario (1994), Ronaldo (2002), and Rivaldo (2002).

He leads Brazil with four goals so far in the World Cup. He has been highly productive under head coach Carlo Ancelotti with seven goals in 13 games. That’s fairly remarkable given he’s scored just six goals in 39 matches with other coaches.

Junior has found new and exciting ways to score in this tournament, notching his first international goal on a header against Scotland.

Deniz Undav (43% to score on Kalshi)

Undav has recorded three goals and two assists to lead Germany in both goals and points. As impressive, he didn’t start a single game in the group stage. That productivity on the score sheet came in 69 minutes of play.

He is averaging a goal every 13.8 minutes. For comparison, consider the averages for the World Cup’s leading scorers:

  • Lionel Messi (37.4)
  • Kylian Mbappe (48.8)
  • Erling Haaland (51.2)

Undav scored 19 goals for Stuttgart last season in the Bundesliga, trailing only Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane.

He didn’t enter the match against Curaçao until the 64th minute, but registered a goal and two assists in the 7-1 rout. Undav then scored both goals in Germany’s 2-1 comeback win over the Ivory Coast after entering the game in the 60th minute.

You’d think Undav’s earned the right to start at striker for Germany, but he’s not concerned.

“If I weren’t happy, if I wasn’t content, I wouldn’t be here,” he said. “I accept the role.”

Cody Gapko (25% to score on Kalshi)

Gapko’s productivity always seems to increase when playing for the Dutch national side. The Liverpool star has 23 goals in 53 caps for the Netherlands.

He was brilliant with two goals against Sweden, and has credited Dutch manager Ronald Koeman with giving him the tactical freedom to thrive in international competition.

Gapko has scored five goals in eight career World Cup games.
